Pauline has just finished her first 12 Week Classic Plan. On completing her course, I sent her some review questions. Here's what she had to say...
Overall how happy are you with your plan and service?
Very happy, particularly the service and flexibility of being able to try to move sessions if I need to/am away etc. Whilst I don’t necessarily feel the need to text/email to ask questions, I do know that I could.
Not being arrogant, but I do feel I already know a lot about food and drink etc, and I knew where I was going wrong/right. You immediately recognised that it wasn’t necessarily the types of food I needed help with, it was the accountability aspect of food diaries (when I managed to actually keep them of course) and thinking more about ‘energy put in by eating/drinking vs energy spent through moving’. This is what you helped so brilliantly with, and I have got some new eating habits going to compliment new attitudes to moving (even if just walking the long way into town instead of jumping in the car).
Balance and variation are two key concepts that I think your plan has helped me most with.
What did you enjoy most? What did you not enjoy?
I have enjoyed getting my powerwalking routines in and finding new routes etc. Probably a good option for summer I suppose - let’s see if I’m as raring to go when we get some good ole’ Cornish mizzle days…
Otherwise, I actually enjoyed our sessions the most I think! It’s reassuring to have you commenting on where I’m getting things right/wrong, even just listening to your advice (‘pulling in the abs’) and telling me where I should be feeling it etc is hugely useful and really does come back in to my head when I’m doing my own sessions. I also really liked using the Swiss Ball and kettlebells.
I admit, the least enjoyable bits are my own workouts, mainly as I tend to doubt whether I’m doing them right and in particular those goddamn push-ups. That said, I know they are working the bits I need to work, so all will come good. I’m certainly not going to get worse at them!
What (if anything stands out) did you find particularly helpful? Was anything not helpful?
What I found particularly helpful is that whilst routine is important, that routine can be flexible. Have booze, just less and balance it out. Have dairy, just not all the time and change the proportions with other components of the meal. Even if I don’t quite get through the whole workout homework, it’s better than not doing it at all!
Would you recommend training to a friend?
Absolutely, wouldn’t hesitate.
Are you happy with your progress? Will you keep up this healthier lifestyle?
Yes, and absolutely! To be perfectly honest, whilst I suspected that I would be able to lose a bit by simply getting off my a*se a bit more, I thought I was being ambitious to achieve what I have done in 12 weeks.
