"If you don't have time for healthy living, soon you'll have to make time for illness."
We live in a busy world and it can feel like exercise simply can't get a look in because of everything else that has to get done. So, without wasting any time, here are five simple ideas to help you stay on track with your workouts as much as possible, even when life gets hectic...
1. Plan Ahead & Get Kit Ready
If you're setting the alarm early to get your exercise in, don't make it harder than it has to be. Lay all kit out the night before so Brain doesn't even have to think, and you can get up and get on with it.
If you freakin' hate mornings and that's not gonna happen, make a start by looking to see where you have spare 30min-1hour slots in the week and plan ahead for them so you can either take kit with you and get your sweat on whilst out & about or set it all out ready for your return home.

2. Use Your Commute
For the lucky few within walking, jogging or biking distance of work: Take advantage of it!
Not only will you up your fitness, you'll save money whilst working it into your routine (which has been shown to make new habits easier to stick to). There's even a Bike2Work scheme which runs in the UK meaning you can get a decent chunk of money towards a shiney new bike! Ideal.
Don't want to stink the office out? Try to lift-share to work and make your own way home.
3. Socialise With Exercise
Catching up with friends doesn't always have to mean coffee and/or meals out. Find a new activity to try together, search for coupons for free classes and/or gym & spa days, get out into the open and chat whilst walking/jogging.
If you really want to level up: Find a fun looking partner workout to do. When I did this with my best friend, it turned into the best home workout I'd done in a long time. So. Much. Funny.
4. Time To Kill? Use It Wisely
Know you're going to be stuck in somewhere waiting for someone/something? Have a look in advance or call up and ask about free trial days at local gyms. The novelty factor of being somewhere new makes it quite exciting, plus you're not left twiddling your thumbs watching the tubleweed roll past. If you get really lucky, sometimes spa facilities are included too. Everyone loves a freebie.
No gym in the area? No problem. Plan ahead, pack kit and make the most of your surroundings. Go exploring on foot or come up with a workout using what's around. Got a beach? Benches? Play area? They all make great workout tools.
5. Workout Smarter, Not Longer
Finally, you don't have to spend hours slogging it out on the treadmill. Twenty minutes of focused clever training a few times per week can still keep you in the game if you do it properly!
Find a progressive, smart plan that works for you, your schedule, likes/dislikes, goals and time available.
